New Faces and a Facelift for BASI

by Roy Isacowitz

New appointments to Faculty, a brand new BASI Blog, the first Mentor course outside the US and a plethora of teacher training courses, from Honolulu to Paris and Bogota, Colombia – there is a lot happening in BASI these days!

Congratulations to Adriana Ferrer-Perez, Jordanna Smith and Shayne Smith, who have been appointed to Faculty. All three have spent years in preparation for this opportunity and richly deserve it. Read more Faculty news.

And talking about people, our wonderful Jen Abbot is now Jen Posford, after she and hubby James took the plunge a couple of weeks ago. Sneak a peek at the lovely couple.

Designed with a Pilates theme by Designsensory, the rejuvenated blog has a lot more going for it than just a facelift. Starting from today, BASI will be focusing as never before on turning the blog into a stimulating source of ideas, opinions and news about Pilates.

Our main audience is, of course, the BASI family, but we believe that what we publish will be of interest to Pilates professionals everywhere. BASI has a lot to offer the global community; under Rael’s guidance, BASI has become a community of thinkers, as well as movers. We believe that the BASI Blog has the potential to be an industry thought-leader.

We’re putting together a group of bloggers – people with perceptive and innovative viewpoints on Pilates-related issues. If you enjoy writing, why not contact us? We’d love to hear from you. And if you simply enjoy reading the blog, please let us know what you think about its new format.

As Rael writes in his opening piece to this month’s newsletter, he’ll be teaching the Mentor Program in Athens next week, the first time that this specialized program has ever been taught outside the US. He will also be giving his new Powerhouse of the Upper Girdle workshop in Istanbul.

These events, Rael’s arduous travel schedule and the wide geographic spread of upcoming courses all underline BASI’s commitment to bringing our deep and precise approach to Pilates to as many people as possible around the world. Ed Botha writes in his latest piece about finding the global BASI language in the Pelvic Curl.  That is what BASI is all about: creating a common Pilates experience for all serious students of the message. Read more about upcoming courses.

Happy summer to you all – or winter, as the case may be!
